Kiama U 13.1 Girls v Balgownie

KIAMA under-13 girls division one side continued to press for the title with a 3-0 away win at Balgownie.

The early morning frost may have had something to do with the way the girls started, in a sluggish first half display, eventually scoring after 20 minutes through striker Claire Farquhar, for her eighth goal of the season.

Seychelle Albert was creating some chances with some fine wing play, while Rachel Roley impressed on the right, as did Erin Dobson in the middle, but Kiama could not add to it slender first half lead.

The second half  tempo picked up, with Kiama dominant and creating more chances. Jessica Davis came close to doubling the advantage as did Kelsey Wishart, before Chloe Cafe scored a great goal from the edge of the area to make it 2-0.

With Player of the match, Sharna Dobson, marshalling the defence extremely well, and ably assisted by Georgia Harrison, Ashleigh Campton and Courtney Bowman, Kiama increased its lead when Chloe Cafe raced through to score from a long pass out of defence to put the game out of reach of a tiring Balgownie.

The win keeps Kiama on top of Division One, but with only a slender lead over Thirroul (2nd), Woonona (3rd) and Figtree (4th).
